embedded world: Innovations for hands-free communication, voice control & signal processing

At this year’s embedded world (March 14-16, Nuremberg Exhibition Center), voice INTER connect will present innovations and services for professional communication and control via voice. These include a proprietary kit for industrial voice control, which will be presented for the first time, as well as intercom modules for crystal-clear hands-free communication, even in the case of loud ambient noise. The Dresden-based company will also be presenting its hardware-independent vicPURE signal processing software library, which offers comprehensive algorithms for speech enhancement and multimedia processing.

vicCONTROL industrial kit: Offline voice control for a wide range of applications

The voice control kit vicCONTROL industrial kit basic/pro, developed in-house by voice INTER connect, will premiere at embedded world 2023. The pro version is already installed in a housing, which enables the rapid development and implementation of voice-controlled user interfaces (VUIs) that can optimally complement traditional graphical user interfaces. This is especially true for devices where hands-free use is important, such as microscopes or device controls. With the increasing accuracy and power of natural language processing technology (NLP), machines are able to understand and respond to complex voice commands. Thanks to local speech processing, vicCONTROL industrial does not require an Internet connection and meets the highest standards of security and data protection.
The kit can be used to define voice dialogs for device control without any programming effort. System states can also be read out via text-to-speech. For control purposes, 30 speech models, various demos and practical examples are available, so that individual prototypes can be built within a short time. The kit is based on an NXP i.MX8 processor module and is equipped with a Yocto-based Linux environment. The pre-installed voice control contains a powerful dialog manager that processes the created dialogs and communicates with the user control via MQTT in JSON format.

vicCOM GSM 2: System kit for hands-free operation within the mobile network.

Emergency call stations in poorly developed areas can be operated independently via a mobile radio connection, e.g. on freeways, railroad tracks or tunnels. For the development of corresponding communication devices, voice INTER connect presents the vicCOM GSM 2 intercom module, which complements the existing modules for 2-wire bus and IP data transmission. It supports railroad applications according to the GSM-R standard and will also be available in a variant for LTE operation. Thanks to the patented algorithms for acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) and noise reduction (NR), the vicCOM system kits enable natural, crystal-clear full-duplex communication despite background noise and interference.

vicPURE: Software Library for Signal Processing

voice INTER connect's speech enhancement and multimedia processing framework vicPURE is designed for robust communication and crystal-clear speech quality despite noisy environments. The library is real-time capable and runs on all common embedded platforms with minimal resource requirements. It offers the richest set of algorithms on the market, including speech enhancement, echo cancellation, beamforming and noise cancellation. For a quick evaluation of performance, the company offers its customers its own OEM hardware platforms or close-to-product system designs.
