Crane intercom with vicCOM IP

Efficient voice connections are essential for smooth operations in factory halls and on construction sites. We have developed a tailor-made solution for one of our industrial customers: a modern crane intercom system based on vicCOM IP,    our IP-based communication platform.

Clear, uncomplicated communication between the crane operator, the ground crew in the hall and the control room was essential in the customer's operation. However, traditional intercom systems quickly reached their limits – especially in terms of ease of use, range and announcement quality.

The company was looking for a solution that:

• reliably connects all three locations (cabin, hall, control centre)
• is easy to use
• is also suitable for announcements in the surrounding area

We implemented a compact, powerful communication solution with three networked intercom stations:

1) Driver's cab

• Equipped with microphone and loudspeaker for announcements
• Direct connection to control room and hall
• Selection via LED button

2) Control room

• Full-featured intercom station with LED button
• Connection to the cab and the hall

3) Hall

• Special feature: fully automatic intercom operation – no operation necessary
• Automatically activates in intercom mode when a call is received

• Range: Speech intelligibility even at distances of up to 12 metres from the microphone
• IP-based infrastructure: Each intercom station has a fixed IP address for easy configuration
• Delivered preconfigured: Audio levels and tones are preset and can be flexibly adjusted
• External announcements: An external loudspeaker on the cabin enables targeted communication with the surrounding area and ground personnel

vicCOM IP has enabled the implementation of a highly available, user-friendly intercom solution that significantly improves the customer's daily operations. All parties involved – whether in the cabin, in the control room or on the shop floor – are now connected efficiently, clearly and easily.
