A student at the Martin-Andersen-Nexö-Gymnasium in Dresden examined the performance of online and offline voice assistants in his 11th grade science project, comparing Amazon's Alexa and vicCONTROL industrial.
voice INTER connect accompanied him during his work for one year. On July 19th 2021 he presented his paper with the title "Comparative study on the recognition and comprehension performance of current speech recognition systems when using predefined resources".
The result of his work in which a new dataset of spoken phrases was designed and recorded: The performance of the offline voice assistant is on par with the cloud-based system. For use cases focused on availability, security and especially privacy, the advantages of the offline system outweigh its limitations.
